The Galle Heritage Foundation and the Galle City Archaeological Unit have discovered a very old bunker in the famous Dutch Fort Galle (Sri Lanka). It is located on the pedestal of the clock tower and has been closed for centuries.

Archaeologists believe that it was used as a prison or failing that, as an armory. The bunker has two cells and the walls are made of coral, lime and clay, said the head of the exploration team.

There are 14 other shelters at the Fort Galle facility, but all of them were reformed during the period of British colonization, however, this one has remained intact, commented the archaeologists.

The Fort galle Dutch has been inscribed as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, under criterion IV, for its unique exhibition of an urban complex that illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th century.

After studying History at the University and after many previous tests, Red Historia was born, a project that emerged as a means of dissemination where you can find the most important news about archeology, history and humanities, as well as articles of interest, curiosities and much more. In short, a meeting point for everyone where they can share information and continue learning.
